As we countdown to this year’s VMworld we’re delving into the top five must-see HyperCloud™ demos. In our previous posts in this series we covered the ways that HyperCloud™ accelerates the provisioning of infrastructure, storage, network, container and application services to drive business agility:
And now we get to #5.
In this post, we’ll focus on the key challenges that IT organizations face, resulting from the pressure to move towards agile deployment models and scalable application architectures.
Firstly, we believe that the economic model for IT is broken. Typically, IT expenditure requires large upfront capital and long budget cycles. Additionally, these are for software, hardware (compute, storage, networking) across a bunch of different vendors. This forces IT to spend before driving business success and makes it almost impossible for IT to accommodate new projects unless already budgeted for. What is needed is for IT to pay-as-they-grow the business – paying for as little as needed without any upfront budgets.
Secondly, IT solutions are built based on solutions from multiple vendors and largely DIY – in many cases, professional services is almost a must for putting together all these solutions. Apart from complexity of integration, there is on-going complexity of keeping things running across upgrades and patches. A lot of IT ops efforts are spent on mundane, repetitive tasks just to keep things going. What is needed is a solution that does not require IT to build the stack, but rather provides the entire stack as a single solution.
Thirdly, with ever changing technology landscape and evolving business needs, IT is forced to be on a treadmill of learning new technologies and re-training. Unfortunately, it’s really hard to find IT specialists and it’s almost impossible to assume that IT has the bandwidth to keep learning all the time. IT needs a solution that is simple to use and internalizes new technologies and tools without exposing IT to any learning curve.
Fourthly, businesses have been going directly to the public cloud – for its PAYU economics, on-demand service and ability to support agile development. Unfortunately, this has left IT ops with little control over DevOps and developer usage significantly increasing the risk of non-compliance and security. What is needed is a solution that seamlessly brings back control to IT ops, while preserving public-cloud like workflows for DevOps and developers.
HyperCloud™ – A Full-Stack Enterprise Cloud as a Service with Pay-as-you-Use Economics
HyperCloud™ is a fully integrated, turnkey cloud service that customers are able to deploy within minutes in the datacenter. HyperCloud™ eliminates the need for IT to buy, integrate, test, validate, fine tune and continuously update various pieces of software and hardware required to deliver IT services. Instead, HyperCloud™ delivers a full stack solution that combines simple application management, powerful security, governance and control functionality, and software-defined services that are built on industry-leading infrastructure fabric for compute, all-flash storage, and integrated networking. HyperCloud™ provides multi-hypervisor support (including VMware vSphere) that integrates easily into existing environment and delivers seamless scalability and high performance for any application whether on bare-metal, virtual machines or containers. Customers can go from zero to production within minutes!
HyperCloud™ also provides hybrid cloud management for all major public and private clouds. This gives customers choice and flexibility to deploy applications in any environment and helps IT seamlessly deliver a scalable, repeatable and consistent service delivery framework across HyperCloud™ and all other clouds.
The self-service library in HyperCloud™ enables self-provisioning of infrastructure, storage, network, database, and application services in minutes, not days! Even more essential for companies in highly regulated industries, all provisioning workflows initiated through the self-service library adhere to IT-defined governance controls, entitlements, approvals and quota policies – allowing IT to be in full control while providing agility and flexibility to application development teams.
