We’re excited to be at next week’s Gartner Data Center Conference. The show’s theme this year is “Being at the Core of Change,” developed following extensive research by Gartner into the challenges facing today’s data center professionals. Gartner found that what was most critical of the many roles played by I&O professionals, that of being a transformer —was laying the foundation for tomorrow’s digital enterprise and virtualized data centers.
Based on our engagement with customers we see something very similar. All businesses are facing digital disruption and this creates several imperatives for IT:
This translates into a set of requirements for IT:
These requirements are more easily met for brand new applications where IT can start with a blank sheet of paper, but most companies are not in this position and face the challenge of transforming legacy applications.
Since we launched HyperGrid in July we’ve been centered on how we can transform IT by focusing on some of the current and biggest challenges for CIOs. One of these challenges is transforming legacy applications.
For many IT organizations, the task of modernizing legacy applications by transforming to the cloud model, while avoiding application code changes becomes overwhelming. Recently we launched HyperCloud™ as a hybrid cloud service that offers application, platform and infrastructure services to accelerate this transformation and delivery of business applications that drive innovation and a company’s competitive advantage.
We also see that the advent of container technology accelerates this app transformation journey. Containers are more lightweight than virtual machines as they eliminate the need for a guest operating system that requires more storage overhead and a longer time to boot up. We also believe that developers can have increased agility by leveraging container based approaches. As a result, developers who are always looking to improve productivity and flexibility use containers to hyperdrive DevOps and speed up continuous delivery into production. Applications can be more secure by adopting container technology the right way. Like any new paradigm, it can be non-trivial to reskill employees, separate the wheat from the chaff and truly start enjoying the benefits of the shift. This is one of the core challenges that HyperGrid’s HyperCloud™ platform addresses.
HyperGrid solves the key challenges of DevOps for enterprises – allowing both traditional and cloud-native applications to be containerized, managed and deployed with a single tool, dramatically simplifying IT and bridging the needs of both developers and IT operators. HyperCloud™ offers cost savings, performance gains and operational model transformation for all applications – traditional, cloud-native, virtualized, containerized on the fly or bare metal.
At the conference, we hope to share our thoughts on the above, and also learn where customers are in their transformation journeys and what analysts and other peers are seeing in terms of true success stories and key challenges.
We believe Cloud is a model, not a destination. This is a model synonymous with agility, DevOps, innovation and business transformation.
